As we are filming at the moment, we thought it would best to watch original videos, and also remakes of those videos. We wanted to get a sense of what other people where doing and what techniques they used while making videos.
We researched recognisable artists such as Justin Bieber, Carly Ray Jepsen, Olly murs and more. These artists in particular because they are young artists in the pop business, as our artist would be too.
We also looked at the remake videos of As Long As You Love Me, Call Me Maybe and Please Don't Let Me Go. We found some interesting things used in these videos, yet they also stuck to original ideas as in the theme and even in some of the wording of narrative pieces within original videos.
We to feel like it helped us researching these videos, as it has given us a better idea of what we need to do to achieve a making a quality product.

Risk Assessment
Risks
Guitar
Lights
Socket Grids
Weather
Wires
Hazards
The guitar has strings on it that could potentially snap and recoil at our actor, strings are sharp when they snap so this could cause an injury to our actors arms or face. To prevent this we must be cautious when using the guitar and take it easy when strumming the strings.
The lights heat up a lot when they are being used so it is important to keep away from them whilst they are in use. They would also fall which could injure our actor from impact or could drop and smash making a particular area dangerous to be around because of small pieces of glass that could cut someone.
Around the building we are going to use there are socket grids on the floor which we must be cautious of. This is because sometimes they can stick out of the ground meaning that they are a trip hazard. We must be cautious when we are around them to make sure that nobody falls on them.
The weather could also be a hazard for us. This is because we are doing a lot of our filming outside and if it has rained then surfaces would become slippery. If this happens then we will have to be more cautious when we are filming to make sure that we do not have any injuries.
Wires are a hazard because in some of the indoor locations that we are using there could be trailing wires about which would be a potential trip hazard. Unless wires can be moved to a more safe area then we will have to ensure that we are all aware of where the wires are so that nobody trips over them.
If we are all aware of these risks and hazards then we will be able to avoid injuries and be more successful with our filming.

Twitter and Facebook
Today, we set up and Facebook and Twitter account to promote our artist. Currently there is only 4 people following him on twitter, all 4 of us in the group. But we will use this to promote our artist in the future as he is currently unknown. We are using these methods of advertisement because they are free and spread worldwide, providing good advertisement for a new upcoming artist.

Digipak
This lesson we looked at digipak CD casing. We learnt that digipaks contain a booklet along with the album cover which includes images, information about the artist and lyrics of songs from the album. We are going to produce out own digipak including pictures from when we have our photoshoot and we are also going to have the lyrics from our chosen song in it. After looking at different styles of digipak, artists tend to use a different picture of the band for each page, sometimes from one of their music videos with information about the background of the album and where they got their ideas for their music. For our digipak we are going to include pictures from out photo shoot as the backgrounds of the pages. We will include the lyrics for our chosen song and we will research the meanings behind the original to create information about the song for our audience to read through.
This is an idea of the sort of digipak that we are looking to create, the top case is a fold out digipak with all of the information on the inside. The pictures on the inside of the case also match the CD giving the album its own unique house style. This is the sort of guide that we are going to follow because it will make the product look more professional and is a good way for us to include information about our artist.

Filming/Editing influences
When filming, we have tried to look at examples of Justin Bieber and the way his videos are laid out and how they look throughout. There are a lot of different shots and angles, such as close ups and then long shots showing dance numbers. We won't be using dance numbers but we will try and incorporate the same sort of style.
We think that his videos are well organised and we want to follow that example as we want ours to look as professional as possible.
This is Mistletoe by Justin Bieber, this video is more of a narrative compared to newer material which si the style that we are going for. We took this style on board and began to create our own version of this style for one of this artist's newer songs.

Focus audience
The audience that we are looking to attract is the younger generations, teenagers. We think that our actor and image for our actor will guarantee popularity among that generation as it is what the current genre of trends, style and clothing revolve around now a days.
Musical Influences
When we were looking at influences for our song choice, we looked at love songs because of our choice of a narrative video. We looked at artists such as Plain White T's, The Fray, Far East Movement, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. When we looked at the artist styles we compared them to the music videos for a selection of their songs and decided that the route of narrative because we decided that this would be suitable for our song choice and as a group we understood the ideas of narrative videos.
This is the original video that we took inspiration from for our filming, this is why we chose this artist because we are aware of the sort of style of the music and the videos that come from it. This meant that we would have a better outcome for our music video.

Filming: Day 1
We started filming our video on Wednesday morning and worked for quite a long while on different parts of the song in different settings. We began our filming inside where we filmed half of the first verse. Then we moved outside and completely the recording of verse 1 and 2 plus the 3rd verse.
We used a different actor for this recording than Danny as he was unavailable for filming. We will be using these recordings to help Danny grab an understanding of what we'll want from him through these parts, and look to build on what we done previous to him starting.
We will continue filming again next Wednesday, and hopefully be able to progress well with our work as a group.

08/11/13
In this lesson we finished our story board and have finished decide what we are going to do throughout our video. We will upload a photo of it later on, but it is completely finished.
We also have decided our first day of filming will next wednesday, on the 13th of November. As our main actor is not available for filming for before we have to have a draft copy in, we will be using one of us to play the part as the main in it. Jacob will be playing our main actor, but only for the draft.
We will update at the end of next lesson to say what progress we have made on our project.

Aslong as you love me (1 second)
We could be starving, we could be homeless, we could be broke (6 seconds)
Aslong as you love me (1 second)

We have timed the lyrics in order to know how much time we have for each scene so we can be as accurate as possible when filming.
Lesson 16/10/13
In this lesson, we discussed our idea's as a group, such as fahsion choices, locations that we want to use, actors and more. We feel that we have picked the right song and it will be a success once we figured out what we want to do with the lyrics. We will post in the next couple of days with a decided view of or plans.

Mood Board
Props
Acoustic Guitar
Lighting sets
Different clothing for each character that we use
Mobile
Pictures in frame
Accessories for characters and set
Jewellery
Actors
Daniel Stinchcomb
Graeme McCullough
John Masters
Fashion Choices
High tops
Leather/Baseball Jacket
T shirts, printed jumpers
Skinny Jeans
Jewellery
Locations
Croxteth Park
Albert Dock
Croxteth Hall
Beach front, sea front
Pier Head
Docks
Otters-pool hills and sea front
Museum Steps
Bedroom of house
Street
We all came sat down and came up with this mood board of ideas.
Props: We thought that we would go with these choices as they all are essential in a song like this, obviously the guitar with the song being completely acoustic. We also have a lead actor in Daniel that can play guitar so it will look much more realistic. We will obviously have different sets of clothing for the video with every location change we do. We will have pictures, just incase we decide to use them in the narrative as we are yet to decide what are storyline will be completely.
Actors
We have 3 actors for this video. Daniel will be our main actor throughout, being our selection as Justin in the story. Graeme and John will be used as extra, potential Daniel's friends, but we will decide that at a later date when we finish our planning of the narrative.
Fashion Choices
We have decided to go with the options above as they are current, up to date and will look good in a video of this kind. We will have different sets of clothes as we can't shoot a full video in one set of clothes, so we will change throughout. We have used a theme of high tops, jeans (skinny as well), T shirts and leather Jackets. We thought that this would be a good way to go as this is a regular theme of clothing among our Target audience at the moment.
Locations
We have thought of many locations, this is so we have many options when it comes to picking, we want to keep an open mind, especially with a song like this. The beach/sea front and Otters-pool hills are a potential option as they show a diverse background as big bold backgrounds are quite popular now days. It will set a good tone for the song and will look professional. We also have the bedroom and street options as we will need them to tell the story. The museum steps may also be a good place to end the video as it has quite a slow ending.
This is a mood board that we created to show some of the things that we want to use and locations we want to go for our video. They will not be exactly the same but something along them lines.

Permission
This is a print screen of the email sent to Schoolboy Records, we have emailed them asking permission to use the track that we have selected to use as the song for our video. We have done this because we have to ensure that we are not breaching copyright laws by using the track as we will be posting our video onto our group blog and onto YouTube. We are currently waiting for a reply, if we get emailed back another post will be put up with the response we get from the company.
As Long As You Love Me (In the Media)
How has 'As Long As You Love Me' been used in the media?
As long as you love me by Justin Bieber was first released on June 11, 2012 as a promotional single from the album, and one month later it was released as the album's second single. The track features American rapper Big Sean.
As part of promotion for "As Long As You Love Me", a music video, which was filmed in early July 2012, was released. Prior to the release of the video, Bieber revealed that a minute-long clip of the video was due to be broadcast following an episode of America's Got Talent; however, much to the displeasure of Bieber and his fans, the clip wasn't shown. NBC later revealed that technical difficulties prevented the clip from being aired. The full video was later premiered on Bieber's official YouTube page on July 12, 2012. Bieber very rarely referred to the video as a "music video", but rather as a "short film". Directed by Anthony Mandler.
Justin bieber went on to promote his song on well known TV Programs such as Dancing with the stars one of the biggest shows in america.
He also performed this song on the biggest American TV show Saturday Night Live -

Action Plan
In a previous lesson we got together as a group and ran through a checklist of things that we would all have to discuss about our music video project. We did this so that we can organise the different sections of our coursework and we can tick off what we have done to keep us on a schedule. This will also help us with our time management because we can set targets for when each stimulus is to be completed by.
Producing an action plan will help the group to keep on track and produce a high quality piece of coursework. This action plan is for the setting up of our music video to get us up to the point that we will be ready to record. This is because there is a lot of research and preparation that we need to complete before we can begin filming.

Ideas we had along the way
This was one of our first ideas, as the lyrics have such a powerful message in them it would be a good project to undertake. We looked at the lyrics and seen what we could do with the song, yet we couldn't agree on whether we wanted to use it for our project. Only 2 out of the 4 of us agreed on it, so we decided to look at other ideas.
This was another song that we looked at, as 2 of us in the group have a liking for rock music. We liked the thought of doing performance and a narrative in the same video, which in most rock videos is the case. But we then thought that we didn't want to follow to much in the footsteps of the original video, so we moved away from this song.
We looked at this song as it a very popular song with over 100+ million views on YouTube. The lyrics also have a big role to play in the song, but we couldn't think of an idea that the whole group agreed on so that it would be a successful project t undertake.

How we got to where we are
We had many discussions about songs that we could use for our video, ranging from many different genre's across the board. We thought about Rap, Rock, R&B. Our initial thought was Rap/R&B but when we sat down and further discussed this genre and come up with some songs we realised that it was quite difficult. Due to the fact that making a narrative for this genre is not easy, as people have there own opinions on the more popular Rap songs already.
After we had further discussed and looked at our research we come to the conclusion that a love song is the easiest and best option.
Our first song choice was The Fray- How to save a life, We began to look at some research and possible concepts for the video then decided that this had been done to many times. Therefore it would be difficult to make this our own.
Then we came up with the idea of Justin Bieber's 'As long as you love me'. We then discussed possible concepts and narratives for the video and came up with some good ideas and locations for filming. However we thought that the speed of the song was too fast for the 'Love Song' concept. Then we decided the Acoustic version of the song was the best option, as this is a slower and more intermit approach to the song. With this, we have already decided on our main actor for the video and are drawing up plans line by line so that we can get the video planning actually right so that we can start shooting the project as soon as possible. We as a group are confident that this song will give us the best chance of gaining as higher marks as possible.

Questionnaire
This is the questionnaire that our group has put together to find out what you all think about our song choice.
Our Music Video
The song that we are using for our music video is Justin Bieber's "As long as you love me" acoustic version. We finally decided on this song as we thought that were many ideas we could incorporate into our making of a music video for this song. With 4 people bring ideas to the video, this will help us create a better product overall, and we will get our research and website design done quicker so we can get on with filming our main product.
